The Karuṇā Sevena Association is a small group of practitioners who have come together to support Venerable bhikkhunī Visuddhi in her monastic life and practice. They are united by a sincere interest in the Buddha’s teaching and a commitment to cultivating it in their own lives.

The primary purpose of the Association is to create the necessary conditions and support for the Venerable’s monastic life—something that, in the Buddhist tradition, has always naturally been sustained by lay followers. This support includes both practical assistance and material support, allowing her to fully devote herself to meditation, study, and the sharing of Dhamma.

The Association is founded on the principle of mutuality: the lay community supports the Saṅgha, and in return, the Saṅgha offers guidance, inspiration, and a living transmission of the Buddha’s teaching. This relationship is one of the essential pillars of Buddhist practice.

Part of the Association’s activities also includes supporting the Suriya Lamai (“Children of the Sun”) project, which arose from Venerable Bhikkhunī Visuddhi’s direct experience during her time in Sri Lanka. The project focuses on helping children in difficult life situations—orphans, children from disadvantaged backgrounds, and those who are ill. It provides them with access to education, food, and basic living needs, bringing stability and hope into their lives.

In this way, the work of the Association naturally connects the support of monastic life with compassionate action where it is most needed.
