Uposatha days are regular opportunities to deepen practice, when both laypeople and the monastic community turn toward moral purification, meditation, and the study of Dhamma. These days follow an ancient tradition dating back to the time of the Buddha and create a natural rhythm in spiritual life. The Uposatha calendar helps sustain continuity of effort and gently reminds us of the path toward liberation.

Vassa is a three-month period during which monks and nuns remain in one place and devote themselves to more intensive practice. This tradition was established in the time of the Buddha as a way to support stability and deepening on the path. For lay practitioners, it is a time of generosity, supporting the Saṅgha, and strengthening their connection with the Dhamma.
Vesākha is the most important Buddhist festival, commemorating the birth, awakening, and passing of the Buddha into parinibbāna. It is a day of joy, gratitude, and renewed commitment to walking the path he revealed. Celebrations often include meditation, offerings to the Saṅgha, and reflection on the teachings.

Kaṭhina
Kaṭhina is a ceremony marking the end of Vassa, traditionally associated with offering robes to the monastic community. It expresses the gratitude of laypeople for the guidance and support received throughout the year. It is a time of shared joy, generosity, and strengthening the relationship between lay followers and the Saṅgha.
